CNC Miller – Programmer / Setter / Operator

Power Electronic Design Engineer

Due to ongoing expansion we require a Power Electronic Design and Development engineer. Reporting to the Technical Director, the ideal candidate will have 2+ years experience in the design and testing of power electronic circuits. Working within a small team, you will take a project from initial specification through the prototype manufacture, test and validation.

  • A degree in Electronic Engineering is essential.
  • A knowledge of switch mode power supply and H bridge inverter operation is also essential.
  • A knowledge of motor control techniques is an advantage

Hybrid System Simulation & Test Engineer (EML8) Placement

This Company is the dream for many high speed vehicle fanatics! If the words ‘gearboxes’ and ‘power control systems’ sound exciting to you, this Placement will be your dream come true! The Company is developing bespoke power electronic and control systems for the Electric Vehicle sector, including motorsport applications. Working as part of a small team and reporting to the Director and Senior Control systems engineer.

Tasks will include:

  • Perform hybrid vehicle simulations using the in house developed Matlab/Simulink hybrid vehicle simulation software, including further developing the existing software to validate against real world testing
  • Carry out motor rig tests before solutions can be applied to the real vehicle
  • Carry out further tests / analysis as required and set by the Senior control systems engineer
  • Hours of work, 40 per week

Essential requirements:

  • Fluent written and spoken English
  • Studying a Masters or Degree in Engineering
  • Knowledge of Matlab / Simulink
  • Knowledge / experience of hybrid / electric vehicle architecture
  • Strong communication skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Eager to learn and develop new skills
  • Hard working and dedicated
  • Ability to use own initiative

Desirable attributes:

  • Any previous practical knowledge would be very useful
  • An interest in the automotive industry
  • Understanding / interest in hybrid and electric vehicles

Electric Motor Test Engineer

Due to ongoing expansion we require a Test and Development engineer. Reporting to the Technical Director, the ideal candidate will have 2+ years experience in a test environment, although graduates with relevant qualifications will be considered. Working within a small team, you will be responsible for the operation of the companies bespoke motor test facility. This will involve ensuring that the data logging system is properly calibrated, and specifying test methodologies to ensure accurate results. You will be responsible for validation of the companies electric motors prior to supply to the customer. You will also be involved in the development process for new motor development.

  • A degree in Engineering is essential.
  • A knowledge of permanent magnet motor operation is as advantage

Power Electronic Development Engineer (EML4) Placement
