The Game Changing – Electric Drivetrain
ZED Zero Emission Drivetrain has been designed and developed from the ground-up to deliver clean, cost-effective urban transport. A highly efficient state-of-the-art battery electric drivetrain that can help to reduce local emissions in urban environments, improve air quality and reduce running costs for users and operators. Specifically developed for demanding daily usage cycles, the Zero Drive, electric bus drivetrain meets the latest Transport for London (TfL) specifications and requirements for 2024. From London to South America the ZED delivers a cost-effective option suitable for combustion engine bus and truck bodybuilders and chassis suppliers to transition with ease from diesel to battery electric.
This battery electric drivetrain has been designed to deliver a smooth and emission free ride.
Integrated into the ZED is Equipmake’s advanced propulsion technology; the HTM 3500 motor combines high torque with low motor speeds and is fitted directly onto the propshaft negating the need for a separate gearbox.
The unit produces maximum torque of 3,500Nm at just 1,000rpm and offers maximum power of 400kW. It is driven by a Semikron SKAI inverter with energy stored in a configurable lithium-ion battery pack – with the standard 434kWh pack enough for a range of up to 200 miles on a single charge, enabling more than enough daily operating mileage.
ZED’s efficiency is made possible by one of the most efficient thermal management systems on the market, which keeps the motor, inverter and battery at optimum operating temperature, featuring a water-glycol cooling circuit augmented by the capture of thermal energy to heat the interior in cold conditions.
When the battery is depleted, it can be simply recharged at the depot overnight using a CCS DC charging point.
